The mountain is a popular destination for hikers, climbers, and skiers. At 3,600 feet, it is the second highest peak in the park. “This 60’ wide intermediate-rated trail with grooming and snowmaking capabilities will enter near the top of the Burnt Ridge Quad and run alongside the Barkeater Glades, ending just uphill of the Roaring Brook Bridge at the bottom of The Pipeline, making your adventure to Little Gore Mountain and the Ski Bowl more direct and easily accessible!” The Gore Mountain is located in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York. The new run on the backside of Burnt Ridge will be known as….”The Backwoods.” Okay no bombshell there, but it’s a fitting name for a run that shares a slope with some of the best glade runs you will find anywhere in the Northeast. Pods are spread out and traversing is required to access all parts of the mountain in a single day. The four peaks make up a big, spread out ski area, with 2562 feet of vertical drop and the most skiable acreage in New York. Gore had opened it up to the public to pick the name, and now we have the winner. The Gore Mountain trail map, vert and stats are impressive. Gore Mountain announced earlier in the year that the area known as Burnt Ridge at Gore Mountain would be blazing a new intermediate run down some of the best tree skiing in the Empire State. One of the best skiing nooks in all of the Northeast is getting a new ski run this season.
